SHIRAZ – Grand Ayatollah Naser Makerem-Shirazi stated on Saturday that officials should act wisely to settle the disputes that followed the June presidential election.

Addressing some clerics in the city of Shiraz, the ayatollah said that Maraje’ taqlid (Shia clerics who are regarded as sources of emulation) are trying to help calm the atmosphere.
He noted that the country’s enemies want to create discord in the society, adding officials and people should be aware of this fact.
Ayatollah Makerem-Shirazi also noted that the media should not inflate the tension and instead try to promote unity in the country.
Nobody is allowed to add “fuel to the fire” and divisions should be healed through negotiation, he explained.
The problems can be resolved without any tension, the cleric added.
He went on to say that the country faces cultural and economic problems and many young people are unemployed.
